Je reviens d'un excellent trip à Tenerife, aux Iles Canaries! Malheureusement, y arriver s'est révélé être un petit enfer. Ah, les compagnies low-cost...

[en]

Here I am again! Our trip to Tenerife, Canary Islands was really fun and relaxing. But not our way there!

We encountered several problems with our EasyJet flight and thought for a moment that we would have to go back home (what a nightmare!). We missed a flight due to a belated arrival in Madrid.

I would now easily recommend anyone to try to avoid low-cost companies when you have connecting flights… or to make sure you have a few days in between your connecting flights (which is often impossible)…

Fortunately, there was a good surprise: AirEuropa. They were really kind and booked a new flight for us on the following day for free, even though they weren’t responsible for the belated EasyJet fly, of course. AirEuropa was also kind enough to help us find an hotel within a reasonable price range in Madrid.

We realized (too late) that the European Passenger Rights grants you a few rights, for flights that have been delayed for at least 2 hours and 1500km (which was our situation) such as paying any fees occurring to the passenger due to the delay they caused (hotel, tickets, refreshments, meals, unused and reserved hotels nights).
Yet the Easyjet staff in Madrid was not even close to being helpful and we got nothing at all.

Well, now so you know (if you didn’t already!) always have your Passenger Rights handy.
